Support-A-Child

Hangberg Pre-Primary School has four classes with around 100 children between four to six years old. The fee of R500pm includes quality teaching and care from 7:30 until 14:30 as well as two cooked meals (Friday school closes at 12:00) with aftercare available until 18:00 at an additional R100pm. These fees are just-just affordable in our community. However, even with an excellent payment rate of over 90% and tight budget control, these low fees lead to an budgeted running costs shortfall of R45 000pm. The registration process for government subsidies, which will alleviate the shortfall, is tedious and we do not expect to receive any subsidies before calendar year 2019.

The 2018 support-a-child initiative will help cover the shortfall via sponsorships at R4 000 per child until government subsidies materialise.

Sponsorship: EFT R4 000 or 10xR400pm

GENERAL SUPPORT

If you don’t have much cash to spare, there are other exciting ways to support our work.

Read with a child

Wordworks, an intensive Early Literacy Programme, run in our school supports 150 Grade R learners. A team of volunteers spend 30 min sessions with max two children at a time.

Commitment is two hours per week on a Wednesday or Thursday morning.

Help fundraise

If you cannot donate, you can still help fundraise! Run a marathon, host a dinner, grow some funny hair…

Specialist services

We are always looking for ways to improve the futures of our most needy children within a tight budget. If you have the time, the will and some specialist skill to offer (e.g. occupational- or speech therapy, social work, motor development, mentorship, et al) just let us know!

INVEST IN US!

Why not help transform disadvantaged young children’s lives by investing in our school and future projects, especially as pre-school development is such a key determinant of later success in life? You can make us part of your corporate social responsibility programme or bring us on as a BEE investment by adopting a special project such as a classroom- or playground make-over, a one year bursary for a teacher’s tertiary training and more.
